Your situation

The Teradata renewal is nine months out and nobody knows how many objects you have.

The renewal gives you a date and a price. What you do not have is the other price: what it costs to move the estate to Databricks or Fabric, fixed, with the numbers proven. Novuz counts every object, finds the dead code and gives you that number in three business days, so the renewal conversation happens with two numbers on the table instead of one.

What is happening

What is actually happening?

The Teradata quote has landed or is about to. Someone has asked what it would take to leave, and the honest answer is that nobody has counted the BTEQ scripts, the macros or the procedures, let alone read them. An SI will quote by the hour against an estimate; the estimate will move. The renewal date does not.

The cost of waiting

What does waiting cost?

  • Another year of Teradata license and support, paid for an estate that is typically one-seventh dead code.
  • The leverage in the renewal conversation, which only exists while you have a credible alternative with a number.
  • The six to eight months a First Domain and the first waves need, which you spend either before the renewal or after it.

In three business days

What does the estate assessment give you?

  • Every object counted and banded by complexity, including the BTEQ control flow nobody wants to read.
  • The dead code, with evidence, so it comes out of the count before anyone prices it.
  • A fixed price for the conversion of the whole estate and the first domain to move, chosen for what the renewal needs.
  • A timeline you can put beside the renewal date.

Honest fit

Who should not do this?

  • Estates under about 300 objects, where the renewal is probably cheaper than the move.
  • Teams with no target decided and no date; the assessment is still useful but the renewal will not wait for a target decision.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can we finish before the renewal?

The assessment answers that in three business days with your numbers; nobody can honestly answer it before. If the date is close, the assessment names the domains to move first so the renewal can be negotiated on a smaller footprint.

What if we renew anyway?

Then you renew knowing the exit price, which is a different negotiation. The assessment price is valid for 90 days and credited against the First Domain.

Does Novuz handle BTEQ?

Yes: scripts are parsed with their control commands, the SQL is converted by rule, the flow is kept in notebook logic, and each script is reconciled against its original output.
